  • Sam is an LPC ( licensed professional counselor), LAC ( licensed addiction counselor), EMDR trained ( eye movement desensitization regulation), IFS trained ( internal family systems), trained in somatic trauma work, a wilderness therapist, and a wilderness first responder.

  • Sam specializes in working with folks around topics of addiction, trauma, life transition, anxiety, depression, mindfulness, grief, anger, health and wellness and gender identity and identity.

  • Queering lens in therapy means holding the constant questions of how to make more space for those who have historically not been included and left out.

  • Sessions are typically 50 minutes long and are often scheduled weekly, especially in the beginning. They will be adjusted base on your needs and goals.

  • My fee is 150 per session. I sometimes offer sliding scale depending on my availability.

  • Currently I am not paneled with any insurance, and I am happy to provide a super bill to submit for insurance.

  • I offer in person or virtual sessions. I have limited availability in person in my office in Denver.

  • Under the federal No Surprises Act law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have certain types of health care coverage or who are not using certain types of health care coverage an estimate of their bill for health care items and services before those items or services are provided. • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any health care items or services upon request or when scheduling such items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. • If you schedule a health care item or service at least 3 business days in advance, make sure your health care provider or facility gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing within 1 business day after scheduling. If you schedule a health care item or service at least 10 business days in advance, make sure your health care provider or facility gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing within 3 business days after scheduling. You can also ask any health care provider or facility for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you do, make sure the healthcare provider or facility gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing within 3 business days after you ask. • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more for any provider or facility than your Good Faith Estimate from that provider or facility, you can dispute the bill. • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate and the bill.

  • Therapy sessions are 50 minutes and will focus on you and your needs. The initial session will be an opportunity for me to get to know and understand you and your situation, as well as determine whether our relationship is a good fit. We will work on setting goals for therapy as well as formulating ways to begin working on those goals. After the initial sessions we will tailor each session to your goals and I will pull from the multiple modalities that I am trained in.

  • In general, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and psychotherapist. No information is disclosed without prior written permission from the client.
    However, there are some exceptions required by law to this rule. These exceptions include:

    • Suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse. The therapist is required to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.

    • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person. The therapist is required to notify the police.

    • You If a client intends to harm himself or herself. The therapist will make every effort to work with the individual to ensure their safety. However, if an individual does not cooperate, additional measures may need to be taken.

    • By using insurance, the client allows their insurance company to access confidential information. This is the only way insurance will pay for sessions.

  • Sam offers a nurturing, accessible, and inclusive therapy experience. Sam’s approach is experiential, and is focused on self-care. Sam has extensive knowledge and training in working with diverse populations, and work with a social justice lens.
